Can you effectively recognize when your familiar skills are insufficient for a situation? Do you want to be more capable and innovative? Consider watching Marcia Docherty’s (RTNM, PhD) webinar on Precepting 101: Developing Adaptive Expertise, where she will talk through how to support the development of adaptive expertise skills like dynamism, skill transfer, adaptability and emotional intelligence.

Learning from trial and error is foundational to competency development during a clinical placement. Being able to learn and grow from error requires adaptive learning skills. In this presentation, Marcia will discuss the quality debriefing skills that foster adaptive learning skills and create psychologically safe learning environments. In this presentation, we will discuss adaptive learning in the Canadian clinical context, learn approaches that can develop adaptive expertise, identify approaches that might adapt well into other learning settings, and develop successful debriefing strategies for clinical educational settings.
