This course is assessed at 55 continuing education hours in Canada and also recognized by the ARRT for 12 Category A credits.

This course is designed to introduce the student to current and future advances in radiation therapy including topics such as; Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, Image Guided Radiation Therapy, Respiratory Motion Management and Stereotactic Radiosurgery.

It is important the student has access to a mentor. Students are encouraged to talk to their manager prior to registering for this course to ensure a suitable mentor can be arranged.

Not all centers may practice some of the advanced techniques discussed in this course (ie: SRS, 4DCT) or may practice them using center specific guidelines. This course is designed to give a general theoretical overview of these topics, rather than focus on one method vs another. It is important the student recognizes that there are a multitude of ways to simulate, plan and treat these patients.

The Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) has reviewed and endorsed the Dosimetry courses and Certificate program.
