In CT Imaging 1, recently revised for 2025, you will find a comprehensive course intended to provide the technologist and therapist with a broad view of CT, supported by assignments to lock-in your learning and available assistance from a course mentor. Topics covered include the principles of CT physics; CT system design and components; image acquisition parameters and reconstruction; image display and manipulation; image quality control and quality assurance; radiation dose, protection and dose saving strategies; contrast media and injection techniques.
This course entails the completion of six assignments and an online final examination. This course is intended to stand alone as CT-training, and also to provide a theoretical foundation for CT Imaging 2 and 3, and is the pre-requisite for the CT certificate programs. Completing this course will equip an MRT to continually apply this knowledge in a practical sense and equip them to move confidently in the CT realm. This course will run for one term, and registering for it automatically enrolls you into the required final exam.
For certain recent graduates of Canadian accredited programs, Prior Recognition of Learning ("PLAR") may be considered. Please review the requirements for individuals who meet specific criteria:

or contact

. If you are seeking to challenge this exam instead of taking the full course, please search for the CT Imaging 1 Challenge Exam option in the CPD Catalogue.

This course is assessed at 40 continuing education hours in Canada and also recognized by the ARRT for 12.5 Category A credits for CE/CPD claims. A passing mark of 75% or higher on the CT Imaging 1 exam is the pre-requisite to the certificates in CT. Registration for the certificate (which allows access to and review of the clinical component) will only be made available to eligible candidates who completed the exam with the minimum exam grade. Note that a separate fee applies to the certificate registration. Candidates must register individually for any outstanding didactic courses within the CT certificate programs.
