This course is assessed at 25 continuing education hours in Canada and also recognized by the ARRT for 13.5 Category A credits.

Breast Imaging 1 is designed for new and practicing mammographers. As the role of the mammographer expands, so does their knowledge base. Topics covered include breast anatomy and physiology, mammographic positioning, patient care in mammography, screening and diagnostic protocols and recommendations, breast cancer types, staging and grading of tumors, treatments and surgical interventions.

This course entails the completion of six assignments and an online final examination. This course is intended to stand alone as breast imaging-training, and also to provide a theoretical foundation for Breast Imaging 2, and is a pre-requisite for the CBIS and CBID certificate programs. Completing this course will equip an MRT to continually apply this knowledge in a practical sense and equip them to move confidently clinically. This course will run for one term, and registering for it automatically enrolls you into the required final exam.

Registration into this course does not register you into a certificate program.
