1) Technologist Perspective on Innovation in MRI

Presenters:
Krista Pare, Senior Medical Radiation Technologist (MRI). MRSO., London Health Science Center
Erin Haertel, (MRI)(R), London Health Sciences Centre

Learning Objectives:
Outline protocol development and evaluations:
- Describe features that auto align and optimize FOV
- Discuss the integration of AI into MSK and Neuro (discuss local study data)
Explore the value of remote proctoring for vascular imaging:
- Virtual proctoring reduced learning curve locally
- Reduced the barriers with technologist support and on demand troubleshooting during implementation
Describe the evolution of coils in MRI:
- Introduction of full body coils
- Describe the efficiency of head to toe scanning
Discover the future of sub-tesla 0.55 MRI:
- Image quality and acquisition time comparisons
- Discuss firsthand experience with underserved patients
- Explore remote imaging capabilities

2) Technologist-Led Optimization of MRI Services

Presenter: Vicki Henderson, MRI Manager, Zone 7, Horizon Health Network

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams have some of the longest wait times in medical imaging across Canada. By initiating a technologist-led optimization project, combined with a retro-fit of its magnet, Miramichi Regional Hospital has been able to achieve higher throughput of patients, to the extent that it consistently meets the Canadian Association of Radiologists (CAR) elective wait time benchmark of 60 days. This presentation will discuss the change management approach, the evaluation of processes, and the changes implemented that led to the improved throughput.

Learning Objectives:
- Discuss change management and empowering technologist-led initiatives
- Review strategies used to optimize MRI services Identify methods to foster a continued culture of change
