Learning Objectives:
Kokum Hazel McKennit is a residential school survivor, cancer survivor, educator and an Indigenous woman’s health advocate. During this session Hazel will share her own lived experiences and through story telling will provide insight into systemic barriers faced by Indigenous peoples and considerations for providing more culturally safe care.

- Share lived experiences as an Indigenous woman and Residential school survivor undergoing cancer treatment.
- Share stories of residential schools, Indian Hospitals, including experiments on Indian children.
- Discuss issues of ongoing systemic racism against Indigenous people.
- Discuss the importance of healing the mind, body and spirit.
- Explore the use of traditional medicines and ceremonies along with western medicine to use on our healing journey.
