The clinical learning environment is a complex setting for both learners and preceptors. Join author Jennifer Brown MEd MRT(R) in this accredited QSS while we examine the importance of the preceptorship model, the uniqueness of the MRT's educational-clinical environment, and communication strategies that can be used with these factors in mind. This course additionally provides preceptors with valuable techniques to use in everyday interactions to maximize the preceptor-student relationship.

On completion of this course, the student will gain knowledge of the history and roles of preceptorship in Medical Radiologic Technology Education, awareness of ways of interacting with adult learners, techniques for providing feedback and communication with learners and be able to apply methods for clinical reasoning and reflective practice.

This Quick Self Study is now available in an interactive online delivery format only. Internet access is required. Handheld devices are not recommended.

There is a four-month deadline from the date of purchase to submit your online post quiz for category “A” credit / hours. Marks will be available within 3 weeks of submission.
The CAMRT allows candidates who have failed to obtain a 75% pass mark one additional attempt at the post quiz. An administration fee applies: $25 for members and $50 for non-members. Candidates have one full year from the original date of registration to apply for a QSS rewrite.
Candidates who have surpassed their fourth month deadline must re-purchase the Quick Self Study.

The relationship between a clinical student and the technologist who works with the student can be either rewarding or very challenging. Technologists are the experts in the practice of medical radiation technology, and in a facility where a student is assigned for a clinical practicum there is an expectation that the technologist will be able to guide the student to entry level competency. Feedback is an essential requirement to maintaining a professional and effective learning relationship between students and technologists. This QSS provides the technologist with information about the importance of feedback when working with students on clinical placements. The application of the different types and styles of feedback are discussed. Through case studies and examples, technologists are provided strategies and tools to assist in the feedback process.
