Spinal Pathologies is a new course for radiological technologists who want to access a convenient, on-demand Quick Self Study to acquire a solid base of knowledge on spinal pathologies. Authored by Heidi Veillette (BSc, RTR, MR) - an experienced x-ray and MRI technologist and recipient of the 2006 CAMRT Award of Excellence - this QSS reviews spinal anatomy and positioning while offering a comprehensive look at spinal pathologies using a variety of imaging modalities. Recognizing pathologies and adapting based on clinical history or image findings is a key competency for MRTs – support your continuing competence by registering today!

This course is intended for radiological technologists to review spinal anatomy and pathology on x-rays. Focus will be on the appearance of three major categories of disorders in the spine: congenital, degenerative and pathological. Alternate imaging modalities and post operative changes will be discussed.

At the end of the QSS, you’ll be able to:
- Label parts of the spine
- Compare the uses, benefits and drawbacks of modalities used to image the spine
- Discuss the symptoms and appearance of 3 categories of spinal pathologies:
- Congenital
- Degenerative
- Pathological – trauma, tumours
- Identify and explain spinal surgical treatments and post-operative complications visible on images

There is a four-month deadline from the date of purchase to submit your online post quiz for category “A” credit / hours. Marks will be available within 3 weeks of submission.
The CAMRT allows candidates who have failed to obtain a 75% pass mark one additional attempt at the post quiz. An administration fee applies: $25 for members and $50 for non-members. Candidates have one full year from the original date of registration to apply for a QSS rewrite.
Candidates who have surpassed their fourth month deadline must re-purchase the Quick Self Study.
